I am scheduled for a chin implant and lipo around my neck and chin area as I have always been bothered by my double chin. I am concerned because I am a flute and saxophone player and understand the there is numbness to the lower lip area during recovery. Could this possibly be permanent?
Answer: How Much Downtime for Chin Implant and Neck Lipo? You May Be Swollen, Numb for Weeks to Months The good news is that there should be no permanent effects from a chin implant and neck liposuction that would affect your ability to play your instruments. However, both of these procedures are surgical and therefore create trauma to the body that needs some time to heal. You may be bruised, sore, and/or swollen for a couple of weeks or even a few months. However, after the first week or two, these side effects should be manageable enough to return to your normal daily routine, including playing the flute and saxophone. I hope this helps.

Answer: Downtime after chin implant and lipo A chin implant can be placed through a submental incision or an intraoral incision. This is generally a well tolerated procedure with few complications. Numbness to the lower lip is usually a temporary, not PERMANENT, nerve injury issue, but this may take a few weeks to months to resolve. There is usually very little bruising and swelling. The chin implant and lipo should have a minimal impact on facial movements, including playing a wind instrument and might last from 1-3 months. Answer: Chin implant and downtime First, that is a great combination of procedures.... liposuction together with a chin implant can provide significant improvement to your profile and overall appearance. The liposuction alone will have little to no effect on your ability to play a musical instrument. As far as numbness, there could be post surgical numbness and sometimes it can last a week or longer. Since the implant is placed below the nerve there is minimal risk of permanent numbness. The chin muscles are elevated off the bone and this can create a temporary problem for playing musical instruments. In most cases, one week after surgery should be sufficient to return to normal activities including playing musical instruments.

Answer: Chin implant and neck liposuction candidate. How long is the downtime? Anticipate visible bruising and swelling the first two weeks after both surgical procedures have been performed. Full healing with all the swelling subsided will take 3 to 4 months. In our practice, both of these procedures can be performed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. For many before and after examples of both procedures performed in combination, please see the video and the link below

Answer: I am a flute and sax player and scheduled for chin implant with the swelling in the lower lips from the chin implant the lips don't behave normally for a while, a few days to a few weeks. It might take that long to get the embouchure back, though I haven't done enough woodwind players to know definitively.
