Is painful sexual intercouse normal after lower body lift?

Congratulations on having undergone a lower body lift.
Hopefully, it feels better getting rid of all that excess skin and fat of your
abdomen, lateral thighs, and buttocks. Thank you for your question regarding
sexual intercourse after a 360 circumferential lower body lift.

Several of my female patients have described pain with
sexual intercourse after a lower body lift. Some female patients also describe
a change in the direction of the flow of their urine when they sit on the
toilet.

An important component of the 360 circumferential lower body
lift is removal of excess skin and fat of the mons and elevation of the pubic
region. During the360 circumferential
lower body lift or tummy tuck, the incision should be placed low in the pubic
region. This allows for elevation and
removal of excess skin and fat in the pubic region. During the tummy tuck or 360 circumferential
body lift, dissection is done down to the pubic symphysis or pubic bone. The entire pubic region is raised. The labia
majora, labia minora, introitus (the entrance to the vagina), urethra (exit of
the bladder), and angle of the vagina are altered. Typically, with the lower body lift or
abdominoplasty, the correct orientation of the vagina is established. The vagina and opening to the vagina maybe
much higher than you and your partner are accustomed to. At first intercourse may be pain. With time,
the pain should subside. For the time
being, if you and your partner may want to discover more comfortable sexual
positions. Overtime the pain from intercourse after a body lift should subside.

Don't know of any complaints regarding painful sex; our patients have universally noted improved sex after body work as it tightens up and lifts your privates. In theory, since the incision line over the pubic region is lower, theoretically, you may have irritated your sexual sensation nerves, but this concern is not seen clinically.
