Kybella for the buccal fat cheeks? Tried buccal fat removal and it was unsuccessful. (photos)

Question

I’ve tried buckle fat removal that was unsuccessful. N in turn did fillers to improve n give the illusions of a slimmer face by highering the cheek bones but I still wasn’t happy. I wanted the really chiseled look so with that being said I just tried the kybella for my cheeks n I’ve heard other successful stories my only question is how long is the swelling process

I would strongly recommend against Kybella in the buccal fat pads.  The buccal branch of the facial nerve runs in close proximity and its outer component contains a layer of fat that could be adversely affected by Kybella.  The photo shows the presence of mild jowls, which will require a different approach to elevate and provide for more of an ovoid shape to your face.

Dear lambgirl, thank you for your question.  I would not recommend Kybella for the buccal fat region primarily because this is not an on-label indication for the treatment.  One has to be careful when injecting a substance that hasn't been properly tested in the buccal region, especially because there are important nerves and muscles in that area.  Having said that, injectors are using it for various other off-label uses and having success.  I would suggest that addressing the cheeks, masseters and chin are also important components of achieving an overall slimmer face.  Hope that helps!

Buccal fat removal helps to remove the chubby cheeks in the anterior lower cheek in patient candidates. Buccal fat removal could help to achieve a chiseled face IF and only IF the patient has good cheek bones. If the cheek bones are not appropriately enhanced (usually with fillers) the patient will have a saggy skin. 
Kybella is not a replacement of buccal fat removal. If a patient want to improve his/her jaw line, first the cheek bones have to be enhanced, Then possible jaw line liposuction could potentially improve the jowls.
