Question

30 yr old male, hispanic, darker skin complexion. Healthy otherwise. No history of skin cancer in family. Although history of other cancers. The mole in the Temple i have had for many years. Just lately after haircuts i have noticed it darker and more prominent. There is no suppuration or anything. The one in my scalp is more recent. I thought it was a pimple and have messed with it. I have scratched it , tried to squeeze it and scrape it off. Such efforts have lead to bleeding sometimes.

From the picture it
looks like a benign mole, but any skin lesion that changes shape, size, or
color and any lesion that itches, bleeds, or burns, needs evaluation by a board-certified
dermatologist. There is also a new machine out there, called the MelaFind,
which some of us have and use to help determine, via a computer imaging
analysis of the lesion, its propensity for being a skin cancer.

These lesions are
easily removed with a shave excision to the area and proper wound care. Again,
a board-certified dermatologist can help you and make the moles disappear and
keep the scarring to a minimum.

My first recommendation is always to see a dermatologist for any mole that is new or changes. It may be nothing but it is much better to have that in person examination. Many times in darker skinned people, hyperpigmentation can result from continued inflammation (picking, scratching, etc). This may be why the lesion in your scalp is more noticeable. I would still call a local dermatologist and schedule a visit.Best of luck
