Question

Is this swelling at 5 months post op? 5 months post op from tummy tuck lipo and muscle repair. I stick out above my incision and my mons area still really protrudes out, i can feel it gets worse as the day goes on. Any idea what it is and what can help please I had my surgery in Turkey and my PS says I just need some liquid shringe by the area.

I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a tummy tuck surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively.At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides  you will be able to see the final result of your surgery.

Judging just by your pictures it seems your concerns may beimproved by liposuction. It is important to rule out the presenceof a hernia or seroma. Consult with a board certified plasticsurgeon for a complete evaluation. Best wishes.

Although, based on your photographs, I understand your concerns, it is still too early to evaluate the long-term outcome of the procedure performed. This is best done one year (and sometimes longer) after the tummy tuck procedure was carried out. It takes this amount of time for swelling to completely dissipate (as the veins and lymphatics returned to complete function) and for muscle tone to improve through abdominal wall strengthening exercises.  Patients who adhere to a healthy diet/exercise program tend to end up with the best outcomes.
 Having said the above, if you remain concerned about your abdominal wall appearance down the line, maneuvers such as additional liposuction and/or skin excision may be helpful.  If abdoimnal wall laxity is part of the problem,  further tightening of the abdominal wall muscles may be indicated.
