No standard approach exists among PSs. Recommend that you consult with the PS who performed your TT to determine his/her policy regarding dog ear revision. This policy varies with the PS and whether the original surgery was performed by him/her. Some surgeons' revision policy waives their surgeon’s fee for complications or revisions as long as the revision procedure is performed within six months of the original surgery date. The patient will still be expected to pay for facility fees and anesthesia fees, etc. Kenneth Hughes, MD, ABPS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Dear nanstewart, every surgeon has a revision policy. Many involve reduced or even no fees for the surgeon (depending on the situation) while the patient may still be responsible for facility (the use of the operating room, staff, and supplies) and anesthesia fees. Best to go back to your surgeon and have a talk about your concerns again.Daniel Barrett, MD
Dog ears after tummy tucks are not unusual and it is not a large procedure to revise them. I always go this under local anesthesia and at no charge. I think this is the right way to deal with this and I do it in the office so hard costs are few. But every surgeon makes their own policy regarding this and the issue of costs for revisions is a sticky situation. Good luck!
Hi thank you for your question. It would depend on each surgeon as we all have different policies. In general though I would consider it most common, if dog ears require revision, it be done within the inclusive cost of the original surgery under a local anaesthetic.Best wishes.
Dear jbhere, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination, but based on your photos, it looks like you would benefit from revision surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will...
Do not worry about your final result just yet because it is too soon to tell what your final outcome will be. The swelling can last up to a year. You might be a good candidate for BodyTite which does not remove any fat, but it is capable of producing a 45% contraction in tissues. It can be com...
I am sorry to hear about the complication you have experienced. It is possible that the collection of blood has solidified; if so, it may take weeks to liquefy and dissipate. There may have been some misunderstanding; hematomas do not "become tissue". Close follow-up with your plastic sur...
It appears that your scar healing process has been disrupted by one of several factors. It would be helpful to have it evaluated in person by a good physical exam and a review of the operative report to determine which suture material was used and be certain to avoid it in the future. I use a...
Dear Bebecas, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of...
Usually do not come with symptoms so you must make sure this is the source for you. An aspiration will take it down temporarily and if your symptoms persist, I would not be optimistic that surgery will help you. If you are able to remove this, the lining should be removed with it as well. An...
