Facial fat transfer after Accutane?

Question

I am on Accutane and will be done with treatment in a little over a month. My plastic surgeon told me I can have the facial fat transfer procedure after 3 months. He said doing it after 2 months is possible but not ideal because Accutane may interfere with fat retention. He said 3 months will be good. Is 3 months enough time to wait? I really don't want to compromise my results and end up with unflattering results.

Thank you for your question.  3 months is probably long enough to wait but just to be safe I would wait 6 months.

Accutane can have substantial implications with skin healing and the standard recommendation is to go six months without the medication before having elective surgical procedures. The Face tends to heal better than other parts of the body and the incisions are quite small for a fat transfer so perhaps it’s reasonable to move along a little sooner but six months is generally considered standard.
