I got unilateral buccal fat removal in August of 2021. My face feels saggier and my marionette line looks more marked. There are surgeons that offer to inject fat back to buccal space but will this improve the sagginess in lower face? If not, are there other procedures that can alleviate the problem? Thank you.
Answer: Fat Transfer to Buccal Space Without photos it is difficult to tell what the best course of action is for you to improve your face. If buccal fat was removed and you believe you are too hollowed out from the removal of this fat, I recommend fat transfer into the buccal space. While I am not sure this will reduce any sagginess to the face, it will likely fill out the area and make it look less hollow. For true saginess of the skin, a facelift is generally in order.

Answer: Facial Sculpting Candidate -- Fillers, Threads, Fat Transfer, Implants, See an expert It's difficult to say without the benefit of a formal evaluation. This is my expertise and a huge portion of my practice. Asymmetry is normal and expected. See an expert who does facial shaping with surgical and non surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Facial drooping Thank you for your question. Conservative volume addition may help, whether fat or fillers. Typically this is useful for softening shadows. If the skin is truly sagging though, something that lifts the tissue will be the best solution, such as a facelift. A thorough examination would be required to know exactly what will help you achieve your goals the best. I hope that helps, and all the best. -Dr. P

Answer: Facial aesthetics and having buccal fat removed Compensating for buccal fat removal with fat transfer is not going to reverse the original procedure exactly. The buckle fat pad is pretty deep in the cheek and most grafted fat is in the more superficial plane. The buccal fat pad it’s also a single small solid lobule of fat and grafted fat is diffuse and intermingled with live tissue. If you have concerns regarding your facial appearance I suggest you get an assessment and try to get a clear understanding of the different variables that could be involved and at that time you can discuss various treatment options that surgeon recommends. For complex situations finding highly experienced talented providers tends to be more important than standard simple procedures. To find the right provider you need to schedule multiple in person consultations at which time you can judge for yourself who you feel is most appropriate and what procedures may be worthwhile pursuing. Without even showing pictures it’s difficult to make any assessment. Grafting fat in the face will not exactly reverse having had a buccal Fat removal procedure. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
