Facelift or Buccal Fat Removal? (photo)

Buccal fat removal is a plastic surgical procedure to remove the fullness of the lower anterior cheeks (chubby cheeks). It does not address saggy skinFacelift is a procedure to lift the face and therefore correct the saggy skin of the face. It sometimes is done in conjunction with buccal fat removal

      At your age and based upon the pictures, I would not recommend a facelift.  The rhinoplasty can definitely be performed.  The buccal fat pad removal may help with the look, but I would need to examine you and assess your goals.  If you are concerned about cheek descent, I would recommend fat grafting or filler to the cheek areas.  Find a plastic surgeon with ELITE credentials who performs hundreds of rhinoplasties each year.  Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results.  Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA

From what i can see of your photos, i would not recommend a buccal fat removal.  More of a standard facial rejuvenation procedure would give you much better results and address the issues you are concerned about.

With your face relaxed, I don't appreciate anything that a facelift would help.  You should see a local surgeon experienced in buccal fat removal so you can be evaluated and your surgeon can better appreciate whether he/she can help you achieve the goals you desire.

This is a common request from Asian patients.  First of all, any of the procedures can be done while wearing braces or removable retainers.  Both facelift or buccal fat removal can help improve the facial appearance but both have different roles and will give different results.  Please consult with a board certified specialist who can help you achieve the results you seek.

It is very rare that a 31 year old Asian lady would benefit from a facelift as your pictures demonstrate. Buccal fat can be removed to improve facial contour. All work can and should be done at the same time, including the rhinoplasty.
