I recommend following up with a cosmetic dermatologist for after care recommendations. We have a specific protocol. I recommend skin care with vitamin c, b5 hydrator, silicone based scar gels with growth factors and enzymatic washes with papaya enzyme to give improvement. PDT therapy can calm inflammation. Sun protection is essential. I recommend adding microneedling/prp and radiofrequency treatments. Best, Dr. Emer

I have been using the Cutera Excel V in my offices for the past several years.  I it is common to have redness and swelling to the treated area after the procedure.  This is generally due to the heat generated by the laser beam interacting with its target.  Blistering is not common especially if proper cooling is used during and after the treatment.  My best recommendation is to cool the area with cold compresses for the first 1-2 days after treatment if redness and/or swelling persists.  Once the redness or swelling resolves, no further topical therapy is needed.
