Pulled out the loose hair. Should I wait longer before doing the next treatment?

After my first treatment of laser hair removal, I made the mistake of pulling out loose hair in the treated area by hand. I'm concerned if this might make the treatment ineffective. To fix the error, I'll make sure not to pull out any hair in the future. Should I wait longer before doing the next treatment?

Hello Fafou12! My name is Jessica, I am a physician assistant, and one of the providers at Shah Facial Plastics. If the hairs were loose in the treated area, then most likely they would have fallen out alone. Otherwise, removing hairs before they die itself will stimulate and cause the hairs to appear again. This is because once the hairs are pulled, then our body, to support regrowth, will supply blood to the root of the hair follicle, causing it to regrow. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid removing the hairs before they naturally fall out. I hope this helps!

Patients should avoid plucking, waxing, or pulling out any hair in areas to be treated with laser hair removal at least 3 weeks prior to their treatment. As long as the hair has grown back and it has been longer than three weeks it should be fine to move forward with your next treatment.
