How long to correct crossbite in adult female? (Photo)

I'm a 38 year old female with a crossbite that I desperately want corrected. How extensive is the treatment and how long will it take?

Crossbites need to be evaluated in "real time' because there can be multiple factors.  It is possible to have two crossbites that look exactly the same in photos but whose underlying causes are completely different thus require two completely different treatment approaches.

Adult crossbites can be very difficult.  It is important to exactly determine the cause.  An orthodontist may even have you wear a thick retainer to "deprogram" your bite in order to gain a clear understanding of all of the elements of your crossbite.

Look for a board certified orthodontist (google that term for a list in your area)  with 10 or more years of experience.

From the looks of your one picture you definitely need to see an Orthodontist and most likely need expansion therapy which is a relatively simple and straight forward procedure.

You actually have a cross bite and a functional shift. Easy to fix at an early age but in an adult the best choice is a DNA Appliance to orthopedically grow your maxilla. It is also possible to utilize SARPE if speed is required but orthopedic growth is a superior method to surgical assisted rapid palatal expansion.

If you get bad jaw problems, headaches or migraines I would suggest starting with a neuromuscular orthotic to eliminate pain as first step.
