I think in your case they have done it and to enhance your smile I agree partly with the suggested, but maybe not the 8 veneers but 4, with reshaping the gums, and the invisalign for bottom.

Hi there are different materials to manufacture veneers, they are all good materials, and all last for many years.
To better answer your question It is all about the reason why you taught of getting them in the 1st place.
If the reason for them is the spacing between the teeth you must know that it will help the same with any kind of material, because your spacing appear to be caused by a tongue thrusting habit which will remain unless you do something to control it, this case the materials used for the veneers do not change the durability.

A suggestion is to look into correcting the habit
(if there is) while closing the spaces with smile designing with Itero-Invisalign, and when you finish with this solutions, probably will not need or want the veneers anymore.
