My teeth are uneven and I know filing them is not safe. Are there any other ways of getting them even? (Photo)

"Straight teeth" and "A Great Smile" are not the same thing.  Straight teeth are only one part of a great smile.  To completely answer your question requires a discussion of several things that there is not room for here. Do some web research on smile esthestics using the following terms:  Tooth proportion, Gingival smile line, Ideal tooth shape, Gingival esthestics, Altered passive eruption.  The orthodontist Dr David Sarver has several well written articles on the subject of smile esthestics.  Then speak to your orthodontist.  Side note:  One of the most important elements of a great smile is having good lips.  I can tell from your photos that you were very blessed when lips were handed out.  Don't be discouraged that you may have to do a little work in addition to the braces to get the smile you want.  Making teeth and gums better is easy compared to fixing poor lips.

From your photos, it appears that the upper right central incisor is smaller in both length and width.  Some of that could be due to wear from before you had your braces.  In addition, it looks like the lateral incisors are both small.  I would have a talk with your dentist and orthodontist about this.  They may consider having you look at veneers or bonding for optimal aesthetics.
