Can a fat transfer fix post-procedure asymmetry? Any other options besides fillers? (photos)

Question

I had what was supposed to be minor revision of the jaw line (small incisions skin only) to remove asymmetry ) looked like a bubble ) on one side. I think Dr. Removed from the skinny side abs now I’m even more asymmetrical . I cannot use fillers bc they cause persistent edema. Can fat transfer rebalance my face and bring me symmetry back?

Great question.  And thank you for the photo.  Yes, fat is a fantastic option to improve facial symmetry.  While no one is created perfectly symmetric and no plastic surgeon can make someone totally symmetrical, fat grafting is a fantastic tool to improve both sides of the face.  Keep in mind, the face is composed of bones, muscles, fat, and skin.  Thus the challenge is to improve facial asymmetries when the facial asymmetry is are muscle, skin, or bone.  But in skilled hands it can be accomplished.

The human face is highly asymmetric. Probably about 2% of people have something that resembles symmetrical faces. Facial symmetry is almost always based on skeletal structure and should be left alone.

Attempting to address skeletal asymmetry with soft tissue manipulation will simply create to asymmetries.

You are a textbook example of why symmetry should be left alone. Human brain is Accustomed to seeing facial asymmetry as normal and typically perceives apparently symmetrical face is looking odd or strange.

I suggest you stop while you’re ahead.

Lastly, when making an assessment on the outcome of a procedure we always need to see you before and after pictures. If you don’t have before and after pictures the mask your provider to forward the once they took.

For young men I often tell him to spend less time looking in the mirror bed for women I suppose that is one of the virtues of life.
