Hair restoration is tricky because there are many variables. My services does 4 PRP treatments, the last treatment we add either fat stem cell or a combination of live cells from umbilical cord blood or placental amniotic fluid. Don't worry these are FDA approved products to add to PRP. Cost is the problem because the products are expensive. We also add red LED light to our service plus products. Hair growth has to be hit with "the kitchen sink" to make it effective. See a provider that has experience and go from there. Hope this helps you. JB
With PRP, you should see visible changes around 8-12 weeks post-first treatment, sometimes as early as 6 weeks. If you are not seeing any visible changes after 3 sessions, there are a couple things to do. First, you can follow up with your PRP injector and discuss why there may be a potential delay in your growth, sometimes lack of growth is due to hormonal/nutrient/metabolic deficiencies. Second, you always can seek PRP injections elsewhere. Keep in mind that there is a technique with PRP extraction, it's oftentimes manual, so there can be some human error with it. Your PRP liquid should always appear cloudy or hazy, some are more yellow than others.Best, Dr. Anil Shah
It takes 3 to 4 months to start seeing improvement. You may want to wait a few more months before deciding what to do next. We usually suggest 4 treatments once a month.
Hi, thank you for your question. We usually do recommend a series of 4 PRP treatments to see improvements in your hair growth. The results do not tend to show right away. I would suggest waiting a couple of months to see the optimal results of the treatments. If you see some improvement I would recommend doing maintenance treatments. Combining treatments such as taking supplements like Nutrafol, using Rogaine or corticosteroid injection can optimize your result. Please seek a certified health care provider to determine if you are an ideal candidate for the procedure.
PrP does not help everyone. In fact it helps way fewer people than currently one is lead to beleive. If it’s not working....move on to other treatments.
It is not uncommon to see minimal improvement in the first few treatments. Sometimes the PRP helps stop hair from falling out first, before visible growth in noticed. However, patients who see the best results typically combine the PRP treatments with topical agents such as Rogaine and oral hair growth treatments such as finasteride (finasteride is for male patients only).
PRP is most effective in conjunction with using Minoxidil and taking Propecia. It is recommended to do a PRP session once a month for 3-5 months. Hair typically takes about 4 months to grow back for you to see visible results. After your first session your hair should stop thinning and shedding. You should then return 3 months later for a maintenance treatment.
Typically several sessions are required before hair growth is seen and usually multiple modalities are used to yield optimal results. Please consult with a board certified specialist who can assist you with achieving the results you seek.
The PRP must be concentrated. Many providers only give 2-3X concentrations. Most effective is 6X. This means that about 60cc needs to be drawn to get 8cc of good quality PRP. It takes 3-4 months to see results of the treatment. Studies show about 40-50% improvement in hair density with PRP and ACell.
The main effect of PRP is to control hair fall, stop the progression of hair thinning and increase the thickness of the existing hair. It is a growth factor therapy which act as a fertiliser to the seeds (hair follicle). I have hardly seen any visible growth with PRP. Even to increase the thickness of your hair, you need to combine other medical treatments like minoxidil, finasteride and low level laser light therapy. I would recommend you to visit a dermatologist, specialised in hair transplant to guide you about the best therapies whether medical or surgical, as required in your case.
