My future breast reduction doctor said she can try doing some traditional liposuction on my arms at the same time as my breast surgery, however I may not get the results I desire as she can see a 'fat pocket' on top of my arm which also needs addressing. She recommended that I visit a liposuction specialist instead as I was interested in Vaser due to its less invasive nature. I’m 29, female, around 65-68kg, 150lbs and 5’3 (160cm). Is removing fat from the bottom usually enough?
Answer: Understanding Vaser Liposuction's Impact on Arm Contouring Thank you for your question and the included picture, regarding the efficacy of Vaser Liposuction on the arms, specifically the top and bottom sections. Vaser Liposuction is a specialized procedure that targets and treats only the areas where it is applied. Hence, if you are considering this procedure on the top of your arm, it will only affect that specific area. The same applies for the bottom of the arm. However, I would recommend considering Vaser Liposuction for the entire arm - the front, back, inside, and outside- for comprehensive results. This is sometimes referred to as a 360 circumferential arm liposuction. In terms of invasiveness, Vaser Liposuction is somewhat more invasive than traditional liposuction. This is because it involves an extra step - the use of ultrasound to melt fat and heat the skin, maximizing its contractility and promoting a more toned appearance. Remember to research thoroughly and consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon before deciding on any surgical procedure. I hope this has helped answer your question regarding Vaser Liposuction for arm contouring. Thank you once again for your query. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Vaser liposuction for arm Hi beautifulpanda, It's important to keep in mind that every person's body is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all answer to your question. The decision to remove fat from the bottom of your arms will depend on the specific location and distribution of your fat deposits. Traditional liposuction can be effective in removing fat from the arms, but it may not be able to address the fat pocket on top of your arm that your doctor has identified. Vaser liposuction is a less invasive option that can provide more precise fat removal, but it may not be suitable for all patients. Your doctor's recommendation to visit a liposuction specialist is a good idea, as they can help you determine which type of liposuction is most appropriate for your individual needs and goals. They can also evaluate your specific body type and help you determine the best areas for fat removal to achieve your desired results. In general, removing fat from the bottom of the arms can be effective in reducing the appearance of arm fat, but it may not be enough if you have fat deposits in other areas of your arms. It's important to have a thorough consultation with a qualified and experienced liposuction specialist to discuss your options and determine the best course of action for you. Sincerely,Dr. Mark Tseng

Answer: Arm liposuction Delivering consistent quality liposuction results is more difficult than most people believe. The number of plastic surgeons who can consistently deliver quality results including making accurate assessment including depicting accurate results based on sufficient number of before and after pictures it’s less common than people may believe. Do not choose surgeons based on the device they use. VASER is more invasive rather than less invasive. It has a higher complication rate than traditional liposuction because it adds an invasive ultrasound component. I suggest not focusing on the brand of equipment but instead focusing exclusively on the skill and experience of the surgeon. All surgeons have equipment they need to do their job correctly. There is in fact very little difference from the patients perspective with different forms of Liposuction. Providers try to differentiate themselves especially after spending lots of money on new devices trying to tell patients how important their new device is. If one form of liposuction was clearly better than all the rest that we would all be using that equipment. People promote the equipment they purchased because they’re trying to promote their practice. All forms of liposuction use the same small thin stainless steel tube connected to a source a vacuum which has not changed for 40 years. Pre-treatment with a laser or ultrasound probe makes very little difference in comparison to the skill and experience of the provider. Arms should be treated circumferentially starting over the shoulder and blending into the forearm. Results are best viewed with a Arms down by your side. Individuals who have skin laxity with their arms stretched out will still see skin laxity afterwards. You can look at my liposuction before and after pictures I’ve treated arms under my portfolio on this website. If your plastic surgeon does not feel comfortable doing arm liposuction then you should by all means not have her do with your Liposuction. Liposuction results are permanent and irreversible. If done poorly people are left disfigured and the results cannot be improved upon. This unfortunately happens more often than people believe and it includes being treated by well trained board-certified plastic surgeons with good reputations. Find the best plastic surgeon for your procedure start by looking at the websites of local board-certified plastic surgeons to see who has the most number of arm Liposuction before and after pictures. Next schedule multiple in person consultations. I recommend patients avoid virtual consultations whenever possible. During each consultation ask each provider to open up your portfolio and show you their entire collection of before and after pictures of arm liposuction results. Ask them specifically what areas are included and what areas are not included. Bring pictures of your own Arms printed out and use those as a reference. Ask providers to show you examples of previous patient wet similar arm characteristics to your own. As providers to show you examples of excellent outcomes, average outcomes and outcomes that didn’t turn out as well as they had hoped for. An experienced surgeon should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 that’s a before and after pictures of commonly performed procedures. Arm liposuction is not as common as abdomen but it is not an uncommon procedure. I typically do arm liposuction at least two or three times a month. Being shown a handful of preselected images that represent the best results of the providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like or how many of these procedures each surgeon has performed. If they can’t demonstrate an impressive number of quality before and after pictures you haven’t found the right provider. There’s no set number of consultations to patients should have but for this procedure considering how much variation in there is between different providers I recommend you start with at least five consultations. You’ll be reminded every day for the rest of your life what the results look like. Like I mentioned earlier if done poorly the results cannot be corrected and patients are stuck with unnatural contour issues including looking deformed. I encourage people to be far more selective than they think they need to you for liposuction work. You’ll be grateful on the road. After the fact there’s very little that can be done to improve outcomes. Do not take chances when it comes to Liposuction. Arms are technically more difficult than Abdomen‘s but it’s not rocket science. Provider who have sufficient skill and experience can do the job consistently and will have a sufficient portfolio of before and after pictures to assure you exactly what your results will look like. In the end there are only two variables that determine what liposuction results will look like. They are the candidacy of the patient and the skill of the provider. Nothing else really matters in the process. Equipment makes a little difference and don’t let them sell you on hype like invasiveness or recovery. In the end Liposuction is Liposuction and it’s either done well or it’s not done well. Don’t make things more complicated than they need to be. Find the right plastic surgeon and everything falls into place. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD

Answer: Vaser liposuction of the upper arms Hi and welcome to our forum! It depends upon where the fat (fullness) is located. If a fat repository remains untreated, the fullness in that area will remain. Fat is not fluid and thus will not respond to fat removal in another area of the arm. If there is a fatty deposit present on the opposite (extensor) aspect of the upper arm, it can be treated concurrently as well. One can treat the arm circumferentially. The surgeon may map of the areas preoperatively with a skin marker to determine the proper areas to treat. Visit a board certified plastic surgeon for evaluation and discussion. Best wishes...
