Sliding Genio (vertical) or double jaw surgery to improve chin area? (Photos)

Question

I have Class one Malocclusion overbite and was wondering if double jaw surgery would improve my facial appearance more than getting 3-4mm vertically advanced on my chin via a vertical sliding genioplasty. I'm looking to improve my chin area as it drops short vertically speaking when looking at it relative to the rest of the face. Many thanks

Jaw surgery is a larger procedure, but it will be more beneficial in the long run. Not only will it address your aesthetic concerns, but will improve your bite as well. Generally speaking, it is better to get jaw surgery sooner rather than later. The recovery tends to be worse when you are older. I would definitely consider the pros and cons, and if you have not already, I would meet with a surgeon to discuss jaw surgery before making any decisions. Although a genioplasty could improve your aesthetic concerns, I would consider the long term benefits of jaw surgery first.
