Have I got skin tethering? If so can this be treated without revision surgery? (Photo)

Thank you for your query. You seem to have a contour deformity with tethering of the skin just above the nipple areola complex. I usually treat this with a subcision to lift the adherent skin and inject autologous fat to correct the contour deformity. Thanks for your question. It looks from the photos, and from what you describe, that the skin has become tethered to the underlying muscle. Correction of this requires release of this scarring, and then prevention of it recurring again. One solution could be to release the scar and then to transfer some fat into the area to address your concerns. Small incisions are required to perform liposuction, although these can often be hidden in natural skin creases / around the nipple.

thanks for your question. i agree there is a difference between the 2 sides. symmetry is difficult to achieve in gynaecomastia surgery and indeed in a range of cosmetic operations.....but even at 6 months there is still healing ongoing and this doesn't alway occur symmetrically either. I would allow no less than a year before passing final judgment on this and in the mean time it will help to firmly massage the nipple and adjacent chest a couple of times a day in order to encourage tissues to soften and settle.
