Please could someone help recommend what treatment I can get on my neck to remove the fat and more importantly correct my muscles which appear to hang down. I think this is hereditary as my sisters have it, and although fat reduces when j lose weight the general shape remains and I hate it. Thank you

From your photos, you are an excellent candidate for lower face and neck lift. The neck can be nicely contoured and the jawline better defined, all while keeping a natural appearance. The more minimal procedures won't give as good of a result nor will they last. Be sure to see a facial specialist for consultation.

Hi Sarah, A submentoplasty is similar to liposuction under the chin (submental liposuction). The prefix sub- means under and mento/mental means chin. Plasty means plastic surgery. The difference between submentoplasty and submental liposuction is the addition of a midline Platysmaplasty (AKA corset Platysmaplasty) with likely subplatysmal fat reduction before the platysma muscles are sewn together. In your case liposuction may help to reduce the Subcutaneous fat (fat under the skin) but will not reduce the subplatysmal fat which will keep the profile blunted. If for some reason liposuction actually reaches the deep fat that could result in loose platysma muscles which could cause Platysmal muscle bands (vertical muscle bands on the front of the neck) in the future. Why? The subplatysmal fat has stretched our the platysma muscles under the chin. After removing this fat the the loose muscles need to be tightened to “hug under the chin”. Then the loose skin will contract down to the corseted platysma muscles for the desired results. For younger people they may not need any skin removal, only a 1/2-3-4” incision under the chin where the natural double chin crease forms. Hope this answers your question. Cheers, Dr. Yang

You appear to have prominent submental muscle and may have fat beneath and on top of the playtsma.  You might benefit from liposuction above and below the muscle with midline muscle tightening as well as a lateral pull from a traditional facelift or a deep plane lift.
