Doctor advised my skin concern is dermatofibroma but I don't feel it looks even similar? (Photos)

I have spoke with my doctor who has advised my skin concern is dermatofibroma however on his recommendation, he advised that I could search on google. However, i don't feel it looks even similar. I asked about getting removed and he advised he won't remove it and i shouldn't be concerned about it changing as the "myths" about having ginger hair and pale skin aren't real.

I completely understand why you may feel uncertain, especially if what you see doesn’t quite match what you’ve read or found online. Dermatofibromas can sometimes look a little different from the textbook photos, and their appearance can vary depending on the person’s skin type, tone, and location of the lesion.

They are usually benign (non-cancerous) growths, firm to the touch, and don’t typically change much over time. While removal isn’t always recommended since it can leave a scar, if the spot is bothersome, painful, or continues to change in size, shape, or color, it would be reasonable to seek a second opinion or ask for a biopsy to give you peace of mind.

Having lighter skin or red hair does not increase the risk of your dermatofibroma, but your feelings are very valid it’s essential that you feel comfortable and reassured about your skin.

Mole removal begins with a comprehensive examination and consultation to determine the likelihood of a mole being worrisome. Excisional and incisional biopsies are reserved for suspicious moles. But it’s good news that most moles are not problematic and are only cosmetic, thus leading to the option of scarless or non-surgical mole removal with lasers and RF and plasma.
