I am 43 and I’m booked in to have a mini smas face and neck lift in May. My main concern is lose saggy skin on my neck so I want this fixed, the surgeon I saw in my consultation advised the mini lift procedure but I am concerned about the results and scars. I have seen mini facelifts where the scars around the ear are hidden so when I have seen some of my surgeons work the scars are at the front of the ear rather than hidden as such is there a reason why the surgeon doesn’t hide the scar?
Answer: Facelift Every surgeon does something a little different and that applies to the incisions as well. I think it's worth asking your surgeon again about the incisions and looking at pictures of cases to see how they turned out. Making the incision in front of the ear is perfectly acceptable.

Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Worried about facelift scarring: Here's what you need to know Hello, and thank you for your question. Your incisions will depend on the surgical techniques used by your surgeon, as well as the degree of your aging symptoms and your desired aesthetic goals. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with a reputable board-certified facial plastic surgeon so that you can express all your concerns. It is essential you understand the surgical techniques that will be performed, and you must be confident with the procedure before undergoing surgery. Hope that helps. Good luck!

Answer: Booked in for mini SMAS face and neck lift - concerned about the results and scars (Photo) Thank you for posting your photos with your interesting question. It appears that your loose neck skin is your most significant issue and a mini facelift will not address this. More likely than not, your facelift incisions will heal well. I recommend that you have a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who is experienced with face and neck lifts where you can have a conversation about these concerns and carefully review the surgeon's before and after facelift results. Best wishes, Richard Wellington Swift. M.D., F.A.C.S.

Answer: Booked in for mini SMAS face and neck lift - concerned about the results and scars Location in front of ear incisions in any type of Face Lift is based solely upon the placement by the surgeon. And secondarily, upon your genetic healing potential of scars. No surgeon could ever guarantee healing/scar results. Best you discuss with your chosen surgeon to fully understand. Sometimes I use the "trade off" concept, in other words - a scar vs the loose neck skin , which do you desire?
