Will my Medusa/philtrum piercing affect lip fillers?

Question

I’m looking at getting lip fillers for the first time (either 0.5 or 1ml depending on what they recommend). I have had a Medusa/philtrum piercing since May and haven’t had any issues with healing at all and is fine. Will having this piercing affect me being able to have filler? So what I mean is will it look weird or deformed? I’ll obviously speak with the practitioner about this in my consultation, but I wanted to ask on here first to avoid disappointment on the day. Hello, had to look that one up. From the pictures I was able to find relating to that kind of piercing I don't think it should be a contraindication to filler. It looks like that type of piercing is higher up, away from the vermillion (red part of the lip). As long as the piercing is all healed up I can't see a contraindication.

Lip fillers are not injected where you have your piercing, so there shouldn't be any negative side effects. Your provider may ask you to take it out during the injection process to make it easier and more precise, but other than that the piercing should not have any relation to your filler.

Having the piercing adds a bit of nuance to the filler procedure compared to someone who has not had a piercing. I would advise there may be some slight increased risk of infection or scarring around the piercing site. However, if the filler can be done "around" the piercing and not "communicate" with it. That would be a safer approach. In addition, it might be wise to wait a full year from the piercing date. Why?Skin healing from any kind of procedure, even as simple as a piercing, can take about 12-18 months to fully mature. After a year, the piercing site will be close to fully resolved and if no keloid scar or other unfavorable outcome has occurred, you will be more at ease to have the filler and there will be less anticipation of problems, in my opinion.
