I am 52 I had surgery 6 years ago in turkey on my stomach and thighs and bum lipo which was performed very aggressively I never received the right care and was left in a terrible way. Since recovery over the years I’ve been left with fibrosis in the areas I had surgery on. I would like to know what surgery would be best to fix this as I’m so desperate
Answer: Correcting poorly done, Liposuction Correcting poorly done Liposuction is difficult and often not possible. Some subtle improvements are possible, but there is no hope of her restoring you to what you look like pre-procedure.At this point treatment options include further liposuction, a.k.a. revision liposuction, fat transfer or converting the procedure to a skin tightening operation like a tummy tuck. Recognize that revision surgery is many times more difficult and challenging than primary Liposuction.Delivering consistent quality Liposuction results is more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons who approach mastery of this procedure is in reality quite small.I always recommend people avoid traveling distances for elective surgical procedures and always recommend having multiple in person consultations to vet providers before selecting plastic surgeons. Revision surgery is worth or not is something that is complex and requires an in person consultation. Is it worth spending thousands of dollars to more or less look the same with subtle improvements. Are you willing to convert the procedure to a full tummy tuck? Attempts at restoring the subcutaneous fat distribution with fat transfer is often unsuccessful or requires multiple procedures to get some fat to survive.Considering the true nature of delivering consistent quality, liposuction results patients should recognize that any attempt at revision can also make things worse. It is the patient’s responsibility to find the right provider and doing this is far more difficult than most people realize. The chance of having improved outcome from revision surgery Has a lot to do with the patients in initial candidacy for the procedure in the first place. At 52 years old, you were not an ideal candidate for Liposuction. As we age, we lose skin elasticity, which is necessary in order to get high-quality Liposuction results. The best candidates for Liposuction can be described as being “young tight and pudgy”. I wish I could be optimistic.Be careful of providers so think it’s easy to improve your outcome. Some improvements are possible but understanding what’s involved and finding the right provider is quite complex.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD
