Question

I have a dermatofibroma on my left upper arm about 2.5mm in size. I don’t like the appearance and would like it removed. Should I see a dermatologist or plastic surgeon? Will this scar badly?

Mole removal begins with a comprehensive examination and consultation to determine the likelihood of a mole being worrisome. Excisional and incisional biopsies are reserved for suspicious moles. But it’s good news that most moles are not problematic and are only cosmetic, thus leading to the option of scarless or non-surgical mole removal with lasers and RF and plasma. In your case I think either type of physician would be able to removal the dermatofibroma with good results.  The lesion is very small and therefore the resulting scar should be small as well.
