It's not uncommon for people in their 60s to consider cosmetic surgery, including a MACS (Minimal Access Cranial Suspension) facelift and neck lift. This type of facelift is often chosen by individuals who want to address sagging or wrinkles in the mid-face and neck areas. It's important to discuss your specific concerns and goals with a board-certified plastic surgeon to determine whether a MACS facelift and neck lift, or another cosmetic procedure, is appropriate for you.
MACS facelift and neck lift is a wonderful combination in the 65 year old age group. I find that a MACS facelift alone in the 65 year old age group isn't enough and the neck lift is needed as well.
Hello and thank you for your question. Depending on the degree of laxity in your skin, at age 65 you may be a better candidate for a SMAS facelift than a MACS facelift, which won't address jowling adequately and may prevent you from experiencing the best possible results from a neck lift procedure. Keep in mind that you should be in good overall health for cosmetic surgery. I recommend scheduling a consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon to discuss which type of facelift would be best for your needs.
Thank you for your question. I do many MACS and Neck Lift surgeries on patients in their 60s. if you are in good health, then age is just a number. Many patients that are 65 or older, do require something for their neck, that is more than what a MACS lift can accomplish. Good luck to you.
Yes provided you are healthy otherwise. A 4 to 6 our combined time procedure should have low risk and be safe.
A MACS Face and Neck Lift is a procedure that takes several hours to perform. Before having this done you will need to have a full medical check up by a PCP with labs, EKG etc. to be certain that you are not at risk to have this surgery. Many 65 year olds are in better health than some 40 year olds, so age is not the most important factor. When considering any surgery the benfifts need to outweigh the possible risks. I have done this procdure on many 65+. It is very important to have this done in a nationaly accredited surgical facitly and have Anestheisa review your case along with your Plastic Surgeon. A well planned and experienced team is the key to a safe and great result.
Dear med15,Thank you for posting your question. Most people who are considering a face and necklift are better served by having a SMAS face and necklift whether it is SMAS flap, plication or SMASectomy based. This is more involved work on the SMAS layer (underlying support layer of the face) than in a MACS lift but if you are concerned about your neck as well, then this is probably a better option. It will give a better lift and last longer. Neck laxity is due to laxity in the tissues in the neck with ageing and also due to descent of the facial tissues into the neck with ageing. SMAS lifts in general last longer and lift better. The SMAS lift technique in the face can also run synergistically into the lift of the neck. One of the main advantages of the MACS lift is the shorter scar but you will lose most if not all of that advantage if you are having a necklift as well anyway. MACS lifts are good for early to medium facelifts when there is little concern about the neck area.I hope this was helpful and good luck with your research.Best wishes
