Hello , i have had my Botox full face treatment 21days ago and i have been prescribed Climycen vaginal gel for 7 days for infection. The active ingredient is clindamycin 20mg in this gel though and i have read that is not advisable to use that type of drug when having done botox , it is one of the type of antibiotics that is contraindicated , almost forbidden! Please advise when is it safe for me to start using Clyndamycin cream ? is been 3 weeks after botox was done . Thanks so much in advance !
Answer: Antibiotics safe 21 days after Botox The label indicates that Clindamycin could amplify side effects of Botox but if you had Botox for cosmetic treatments, the dose is too low to spread systemically. In any case, after 3 weeks it has cleared your system..

Answer: Botox and Clindamycin If you are using Clindamycin vaginally, there is going to minimal to no systemic absorption. There is no real risk to use this cream after you have done Botox, especially if you are separating the treatments by 3 weeks. I would also not be concerned even if you were using it at the same time as getting Botox since Botox is not systemically absorbed and does not spread father than a couple centimeters. Hope that helps.

Answer: Clindamycin and Botox use. How long after Botox treatment is it safe to use a drug containing Clindamycin? Thank you for your question. There is no indication that I am aware of that you can't have clindamycin especially since you got botox 21 days ago.

Answer: Clindamycin and Botox Thank you for your question bluebird15. I understand your concern. Botox is a purified protein used to address wrinkles associated with facial expression. Certain antibiotics called aminoglycosides are thought to potentiate the effects of Botox, meaning that the effects are increased. Clindamycin is not a macrolide antibiotic. Also such effects are thought to occur with concurrent use of an antibiotic, meaning that the Botox is received while they are actually taking the antibiotic. If I had a patient who was concerned about taking an antibiotic 3 weeks after a Botox treatment I would tell her not to be concerned. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!

Answer: No problem using vaginal antibiotics after Botox First of all, your Botox was 21 days ago and the product is now bound to receptors where it needs to be and is not going anywhere. Secondly, if you need an antibiotic for medical reasons you should take it. Thirdly, I don't think that you should have a problem with this . The warning is that clindamycin might increase effect of BOtox but since yours is already bound and small amounts used for cosmetic purposes I doubt you should worry. I have never told a patient not to use these together when using Botox for cosmetic purposes.
