Deep horizontal line above lip when I smile. What is the best way to get rid of this without loosing speech and smile?

I am reading conflicting variations to getting rid of this line . Some say Botox , some say if Botox is used it affects smile and speech . Can anyone recommend someone in Ottawa Canada . I do not want to loose my speech and smile , just the horizontal line

Thanks for your question Jenna004.  It's always best to see someone for an in-person consultation to determine what is the best treatment approach.  In general, a very small dose of Botox placed carefully and precisely can address your concern without causing any functional impairment.  If this line is present even at rest (i.e. when you're not smiling), then you may be a candidate for injectable filler into the wrinkle as well.  The main thing is to start off conservatively, and you'll be able to avoid untoward outcomes.  Wish you the best of luck!

The horizontal line above lip can usually best be treated with injection of Botox, but the dose needed is one lower end and care must be taken to avoid injecting too much Botox in this area to ensure the normal function of the muscles around the mouth is preserved. there are different ways in which the horizontal upper lip line can be addressed. The anatomy and the cause of this deep line varies in individuals, therefore you should be evaluated in person or at least submit a photograph of yourself at rest and while smiling, as it will help greatly in your evaluation. your question jenna004. I understand your concern. Botox is a purified
protein used to address wrinkles associated with facial expression. In the lower face a small amount of Botox can be placed under the base of the nose above the upper lip to relax the DSN muscle which pulls the upper lip toward the nose and can create a small horizontal crease in the area. Small amount (1-2 units) are used here as too high a dose can lead to difficulty with speaking and eating. Please
