I got my lips done around 3 weeks ago with 1ml of juvederm, I loved the outcome they were really big, I knew before that I would prefer them when they were swollen & that when they went down I'd want more so I tried to keep an open mind about them even when the swelling went, after a few days the swelling went completely & they have returned to their usual size the Lady has said I could try 1ml of belotero intense instead but I don't want to pay more money for it to just go back to normal again?

Answer: Underfilled lips Hi Megan, Like the others here, I do a lot of lip injections, but I ALWAYS caution my patients for what you're experiencing. Yes, Juvederm draws in lots of water and after a few days it goes away. People often say this, which is why I take before and after photos to show them their results. So, without seeing your pre-injection photos or knowing your pre-treatment goals, it's tough to say how you were counseled. If your lips were small, or you wanted a LARGE increase in size, I usually do use Juvederm, but I don't undersell. I'd rather have you save your $ and buy two syringes, than buy one and be unhappy, or at least understand the plan. In my hands, Juvederm ultra Plus tends to look and move a bit unnatural, but I've used it with good results - again, it depends on your goals. The other thing, which I have no way of knowing, is what plane, or injection technique, your injector used. If it was injected too deeply, then I find that the muscle action tends to mask or break down the product faster. Aside from picking the right filler and matching it to patient goals and expectations, filler injection is entirely technique-dependent, and it matters all the way down to the layer, or plane, in which it is injected.

Answer: Juvederm or belotero intense for the lips Hello MeganM96,Juvederm Ultra Plus is my filler of choice in the lips. Although all HAs have similarities, Juvederm is the most hydrophilic (draws in more water) and therefore gives more volume and longevity than the the others. If you want very large lips, then 1cc is rarely enough for full correction (much of this depends on how big the lips are pre-procedure, and the patient's lip volume goal). However, I rarely inject more than 1cc for first-time injectable patients as the swelling can be pretty dramatic. Best to start off slow since you can always inject more.Michael M. Kim, MD
