Post accutane, Post inflammatory erythema, Would microdermabrasions help/ other treatments?

I have just taken a course of accutane (40mg for 5 months). I am left with a lot of red marks which I initially thought was PIH but was told it is actually erythema. Would microdermabrasions help lighten these marks, which other topicals or treatments would help me?

Thank You for your question. It is very important to wait at least 6 months to a year to do any kind of skin treatments. This includes microdermabrasions, chemical peels or lasers. however there are good medical grade skincare lines that can help with the vascular redness that can be caused from using accutane. Redness can take up to a year to subside, it just takes time. Consult with a Board Certified Plastic surgeon to get your bet options.

Depending on your skin's natural pigmentation you should wait at least 6 months, and in some cases even 12 months before pursuing and skin treatment (including microdermabrasion).  For the redness (erythema) you can then ask a specialist to provide you with specific recommendations.

Absolutley not! you should no even slightly invasive treatment after Accutane as it might lead to severe scarring. Microdermabrasion is mild, but still it requires the skin to heal and it can't heal properly after Accutane. you must wait 6 months. Probably the redness will go away on its own
