I'm booked to see a rhinologist - was just wondering the difference between an ENT surgeon and a rhinologist?

I had septorhinoplasty 4 months ago and it fixed the breathing problem but I still have the bump.on my nose and now more nostril shows they have booked me to see a rhinologist who will perform the revision I was wondering the difference between an ent surgeon and a rhinologist

Thank you for your question.Rhinology is a new subspecialty of Ear, nose and throat surgery that specialises in diseases of the nasal passages, the sinuses and the anterior skull base. So in essence, a rhinologist is first and foremost an ENT surgeon, who has specialised in the above diseases.Hope that helps.Thank you.

A rhinologist is an ENT that has extra fellowship training in rhinology after completing his ENT training. So, he has more training than a regular general ENT in rhinology. Rhinology training give an ENT more training in plastic surgery of the nose, allergy treatment, endoscopic sinus surgery, and any other procedure or pathology of the nasal airways.
