Will I have to get a whole new temporary crown made if the temp crown is too low or will the dentist be able to fix this?

I had a two temporary crowns put in on teeth 13 &14 a week an half ago. At first they were too high so 2 days later I went in for an adjustment, which I thought felt perfect until about 20mins after I left when I bite my tongue. So obviously my temp crown is too low now as I continue to bite my tongue when I talk and I have pain in my jaws and across my cheekbones. I would hate to go thru the whole process again, the smell and pain were "not the thang" :(

Biting of a tongue does not automatically mean the temporary crown is too low (I bite my tongue too often and have no bite issues) or even has any issues at all.  Sometimes biting a tongue is simply a "thing" and the swollen part gets bit again due to the swelling, etc.  Adjusting the temporary likely won't help at all.The only purpose of a temporary crown is to buy time, to allow the lab to create a final restoration.  There is nothing learned from a temporary that will alter the final restoration (unless this is a smile makeover), so even if the dentist adjusted the bite so much that there was 1 mm clearance from the opposing teeth, the final is not affected.Since it has been nearly 2 weeks since the prep appointment (when the tooth was prepared and the first temporary placed), your dental office may already have the final restoration at the office and it is ready to be seated.  If not, I still would ignore it and wait for the final appointment, as you may end up spending a lot of unnecessary time and effort on something trivial.

I would suggest returning to your dentist and having a new temporary made. Adding to temporaries is not always successful. Remaking them should cause minimal discomfort.
