There is very little evidence that prednisone taken orally after a hair transplant has any benefit with regard to swelling. (Based on some published data [see link below] and numerous anecdotal reports from colleagues, I stopped using post-operative prednisone/methylprednisolone many years ago in favor of adding triamcinolone to the tumescent solution during surgery, and have seen a dramatic reduction in the incidence of post-op swelling in my patients.) In my opinion, there is nothing to be gained from taking prednisone after surgery.

Taking this minimizes swelling in many people but the drug is not critical to take so don't worry you can toss the last pills in the toilet
