Shingles three times is very unusual so I can understand your concern that you would not wan to do anything that could cause another outbreak. It should be no problem to get laser hair removal on your legs. The only time we typically treat with antivirals such as Valtrex is when we are going to do a laser resurfacing procedure on the face, especially if there is a history of cold sores on the lip. In regards to your treatment, there is a laser that is much more comfortable than typical hair removal lasers. It is called the Light Sheer Duet. it is fast and requires no topical anesthesia. I recommend you find an office that uses this laser and you will have a great experience. I hope this helps!

There is a moderate chance that laser treatments can reactivate the virus and cause your shingles to reappear after treatment, this is usually seen when we are directly treating the area that has been affected by shingles. To be safe, you can speak to your doctor about starting an anti-viral (Valtrex) a few days before you begin treatment to reduce the risk of the shingles reactivating.
