Is it normal after fat augmentation to the breast to feel lumps and hard areas on the breast?

I just had the surgery week Ago and there is a large hard area on my breast..2 years ago i had a surgery to remove a tumor from this breast, the blood tests , mamograms are normal and i am always checking with my doctor and everything is ok but i am just worried could it be something serious or it is normal for the breast to feel hard after fat aygmentation?

hello salmine  Fat grafting is a generally safe procedure with few problems. Loss of volume after the procedure or increased volume with weight gain. Fat necrosis which can result in cysts, scar tissue, calcifications, lumps. Infection is very rare. You should visit or contact your PS about this concern. #lumps #hard

Hi, thank you for your question.  It is nor unusual to feel areas of firmness after fat augmentation to the breasts in the immediate postoperative period.  You should however see your surgeon for follow-up examination so that this area can be monitored.  As your swelling comes down, the firmness should also soften up, especially within the first 6 weeks after surgery.Best wishes,Dr. Naidu
