I am 49 and starting to lose firmness around the jawline. My therapist has recommended a Caci microcurrent facial to tighten up the muscles but a course is very expensive. Would you recommend this treatment?
Answer: Microcurrent treatment is not tighten the skin. Electromagnetic energy treatment to the skin creates temporary swelling that makes the skin look tight. When the swelling subsides all benefits will disappear with it. Don't waste your money.

Answer: Microcurrent versus other Modalities for Skin Tightening There are several modalities for non-surgical skin rejuvenation and skin tightening. Microcurrents are not the best. Some send focused RF energy under the skin while others use fractional needle RF with direct contact. What is important is the quality of the machine as well as the practitioner doing the procedure. For facial aesthetics, I usually do not prefer treatments consisting of energy focusing under the skin. To my belief, these treatments will unevenly cause fibrosis of the subcutaneous tissue also resulting in fat atrophy, which will end in a more aging skin. Needling procedures with RF are my primary tool for non-surgical skin rejuvenation and tightening in the face, after facelift procedures of course. Hope this helps, Ali Rıza Öreroğlu, MD FEBOPRASEuropean and Turkish Board Certified Aesthetic, Plastic and Reconstructive SurgeonIstanbul, Turkey

Answer: There is no real evidence available that microcurrent treatments work well for tightening the skin. There is no real evidence available that microcurrent treatments work well for tightening the skin. There has been no conclusive research done at this point. I would suggest saving your money for a treatment with proven, noticeable results. A facelift or mini lift would most likely be the best option, but if you’re averse to surgery and your skin is really just beginning to sag, you could try a non-invasive skin tightening laser such the Titan. I hope this helps.

Answer: A waste of your resources The short answer to this is that a CACI microcurrent facial to tighten up the muscles is a waste of your resources. I would seek a reputable facial rejuvenation specialist and get their opinion. The bottom line is while many of these treatments sound appealing because of the minimal downtime, they have limited effectiveness and more importantly are just a waste of someone's time and resources. A reputable facial rejuvenation specialist will be able to steer you in the right direction. Good luck with your research.

Answer: Caci MicroCurrent Facial Treatments Dear antiageingdiaries, Thank you for your question. Microcurrents only have a very mild effect in firming and this is short lived. If you want more than this and better value for money, I would suggest looking into alternative treatments before commiting to an expensive course of microcurrents. The most effective treatment for tightening up the jawline is a face and necklift. There are several non-surgical techniques with better success rates than microcurrents if you are not ready for this yet - laser, skin peels, RF. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area who also provides non surgical facial rejuvenation treatments. I hope this was useful and good luck with your research. Best wishes
