Answer: Dental work prior to plastic surgery With the dental work you are talking about I think it's safest that you are recover and free of any dental complications prior to undergoing plastic surgery. This is very important if you are considering breast implants. If you are considering breast implant surgery and decide to have that first you should probably wait at least 3 months (and may even consider taking antibiotics) at the time of you dental procedure in consultation with your plastic surgeon.

Answer: Dental work prior implant surgery Thank you for your question. Hearing about dental work prior to or around the time of breast implant surgery tends to make us nervous as plastic surgeons. We worry about bacteria from the mouth/gums traveling in your blood stream and setting up a "home" around your new implants. This can lead to significant problems. I would really like to have at least a week separating your routine dental cleaning and implant surgery, and longer if the dental work is more elaborate. I hope this helps, and you should really check w/ your surgeon. Best wishes.
