Hi @caroleliz! I recommend taking Valtrex the day before your treatment to reduce the possibility of a cold sore around the oral area. Best of luck to you!
It is recommended to begin taking Valtrex 3 days prior to microneedling to reduce the possibility of a cold sore flare up around the mouth, and it is important to continue taking Valtrex as directed by your provider post procedure. This response is for educational and informational purposes only and is not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment provided by a qualified healthcare provider.
If you are prone to cold sores, taking Valtrex 1-2 days or an anti-viral may help prevent cold sores around the lips. In our experience we haven't noticed that our patients have been more prone to developing cold sores (herpes simplex) from the microneedling procedure. I would not recommend doing the procedure with active lesions. I hope this was helpful, thank you.
Procedures need to have adequate time spacing between them to avoid complications. If you have a history of cold sores, take Valtrex 500mg twice a day beginning the day before your treatment
Thank you for your question! You should take valtrex one day prior to your microneedling procedure then finish out the prophylactic dose prescribed. Hope this helps!
Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment. What you have right now is redness and a little bit of inflammation, which should go away within a few days. Next time don't go as hard, but otherwise it is actually okay to do Microneedling once a week if administered properly.
