Post op swelling, what to expect? Is the swelling after Tickle Lipo hard or soft?

Post op swelling after tickle liposuction is similar post op swelling from other types of liposuction procedures. The swelling will slowly go away. It usually takes up to 3 months to see most of the anticipated changes , a bit longer in some cases.

Thank you for your question. Swelling and areas of firmness or hardness are common with all forms of liposuction and tend to resolve by 6-12 weeks following the treatment. In some cases it may take up to 6 months for resolution. There are normal changes that occur post lipo, no matter what type of lipo was done. These include what are called the inflammatory, proliferative and organizational processes of healing.
In the first 5-7 days, you experience the inflammatory process; which includes swelling, warmth of the tissues, bruising and pain/discomfort. 
These changes start to resolve and are followed by the proliferative process of healing, which is the slow resolution of all the above changes and then a hardening of the tissues. I call this the lumpy/bumpy time and the tissues become heavy and sometimes fuller than the swelling stage. This can make your clothes not fit as well for awhile. These changes, at least in a majority of the patients I treat, last on average about 3 weeks. As these tissues begin to soften, the treated area will become lighter, no longer feel as heavy as before, and the skin will become tighter.
Depending on the aggressiveness of the procedure done by your doctor, these changes may last longer. 
Bottomline, the changes you describe can be normal. Gentle tissue massage will enhance the healing process. The problems you are seeing now should resolve in a few weeks.
