Unfortunately, no surprise about the lack of success with fractional lasers. I have been cautioning my readers for years to exercise a great deal of "buyer beware" when considering these expensive "bells and whistles" that generally lack the hard science to back up the heavy marketing hype to promote them. Superficial peels are fine for helping with very surface color and texture problems, but had little chance of success with deeper scars. Sorry. You would be wise to seek consultation and treatment by a board certified cosmetic dermatologist with extensive acne scar experience. Going forward, I hope this helps. Best of luck.
Acne requires a combination approach to get long-term improvement. I recommend a combination of Cosmelan, salt facials, peels, lasers, microneedling with PRP, blue light, radiofrequency and isotretinoin. I suggest getting a formal evaluation with an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
These scars are caused by cystic acne. Scars can be temporary or permanent and there are many aspects of scars that can be improved. During your consultation, we look to determine the textural changes, hypopigmentation, hyperpigmentation, scar color, scar contour depth, scar atrophy, inflammation, and scar thickness. Once complete, a HIDEF protocol is established that includes pigmentation protocols to either lighten or darken scar tone, re-texturization of scars, inflammatory mediators, lasers, and contour correction. All of these require time and multi-plane correction. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianRealself100 Surgeon
With the great advances in microneedling & radio frequency (RF) technology, treatment for acne scaring is simple and affective. Depending on the severity of the scarring treatment can vary from three to six sessions spaced about 6 to 8 weeks apart. If you're battling active acne IPL is the way to go. Much better than medication. Best from Boston, Dr. Onir
