I am planning to get facial fat transfer and potentially BBL. I understanding that blood cloting can impact liposuction. So what are the potential considerations for somone with heterozygous Factor V Leiden?

There is evidence that Factor V Leiden increases chances for blood cloths 8 times, in particular with longer surgeries and general anesthesia.  I treated patients with this condition and performed procedures 4-5 h long without complications following the protocol that includes twilight anesthesia-sedation, compressive stockings, intraoperative SCD and postoperative trombonists with Lovenox for 5-7 days. Being heterozygous for Factor V Leiden does not necessarily exclude you from liposuction, facial fat transfer, or BBL surgery, but it does place you at an increased risk for blood clots. Important considerations include a detailed personal and family history of clotting events, consultation with a hematologist, careful assessment of the length and extent of surgery, use of compression devices, early postoperative mobilization, and, in some cases, anticoagulation therapy. Because BBL procedures can be lengthy, your surgeon should develop a comprehensive thrombosis prevention plan tailored to your individual risk profile.
