There are several modalities for non-surgical skin rejuvenation and skin tightening. Some send focused RF energy under the skin while others use fractional needle RF with direct contact. What is important is the quality of the machine as well as the practitioner doing the procedure. For facial aesthetics, I usually do not prefer treatments consisting of energy focusing under the skin. To my belief, these treatments will unevenly cause fibrosis of the subcutaneous tissue also resulting in fat atrophy, which will end in a more aging skin. Needling procedures with RF are my primary tool for non-surgical skin rejuvenation and tightening in the face, after facelift procedures of course.Hope this helps,Ali Rıza Öreroğlu, MD FEBOPRASEuropean and Turkish Board Certified Aesthetic, Plastic and Reconstructive SurgeonIstanbul, Turkey
Thank you for sending images. Nonsurgical treatments such a high frequency ultrasound tend to be subtle. I typically reserve these type of treatments for patients in their 30s and 40s or patients who cannot undergo or refuse surgery. It really is impossible to give an exact diagnosis and plan without a full consult and exam. That said, I do think it would be difficult to achieve significant results with HIFU alone. If you are not interested in surgery, consider combining multiple nonsurgical treatments such as skin tightening and fillers.I would recommend consulting with a board certified facial plastic surgeon, someone who specializes in just faces, for a thorough evaluation and plan.
Dear evabbd,Thank you for posting your question. HIFU gives good results for a non-surgical facial treatment but not as good a result or as longlasting a result as a facelift and more than one treatment is usually needed. Therefore, I think it will depend on what you are expecting and what you are prepared to invest in terms of time, invasiveness of treatment, recovery. I would recommend seeing a board certified plastic surgeon who offers a surgical and a non surgical facial rejuvenation practice. They can show you what one treatment can achieve versus another as well as the pros and cons of each, and discuss with you what your best option is.Good luck with your research!Best wishes
High frequency ultrasound treatments deliver very subtle results. So, it's important that you be clear as to your expectations. If you have considerable lax skin (hard to tell without seeing you in person), you might be better of saving your money and then having a facelift when you are able.Kindly,Kouros Azar
The results from high frequency ultrasound treatments to the neck are usually not very dramatic. The risks are few but the results are often very subtle and therefore do not justify the costs in my opinion.
