Do Doctors detach skin from the muscle/tendon during dermal filler procedures on cheeks, and does this ever recover/reattach?

Whilst having cheek filler 9 months ago my Doctor mentioned that she was removing the skin from the muscle with a cannula/needle and this would only need to be done once as it does not attach itself again. This has really worried me since and I have noticed a drop/sag in my cheek appearance overall and have developed more prominent nasolabial folds. Why would a Doctor do such a drastic measure? Please advise.

this doctor has no idea what they are talking about haha. cannulas migrate through tissue WITHOUT damaging it and needles do damage the tissue, but they all heal and do not cause any permanent changes. If someoen has scarring cannulas or needles can be used to break apart the scar tissue but by migrating through the skin tehre is no "detachment" that causes issues. Without knowing more, it is impossible to give you any specific answers. There is no place in the face where the skin is directly attached to the skin so you could detach it. There are, however, places where ligaments attach to the skin. At one time, some physicians attempted to detach the skin from the ligament causing the nasolabial fold and place filler under the fold to elevate it and face it. Unfortunately, this was approaching the problem from the wrong direction and the skin does reattach. The nasolabial fold deepens as the skin from above descends because the malar-cheek area has lost volume. Correction is accomplished by filling and/or elevating the malar area. This requires a mid-face lift or malar filler or both. You need to see an expert in fillers and show him/her exactly where you had the previous treatment and discuss your desires specifically.
