Are these new blue "lines" on my legs the beginning of varicose veins?

I did not have them before, they just appeared about a year ago. A lot of the veins on my leg show right through my skin (more like parts of veins), like a thick blue line although they are not raised and don't hurt. No one in my family has these, I am fit and active and I noticed them after a long course of antibiotics for Lyme disease.

The posted vein looks like a blue reticular vein.  Neck veins can enlarge for many reasons.  Your posted vein looks to be a normal variant.  See vein specialist for an evaluation.  Most likely this vein can either be left alone or treated by sclerotherapy.
