Thank you for your question. I would recommend considering earlobe repair. It can be performed under local anesthesia and then re pierced.
First, I would try having her wear no earrings for a month. It is possible that the piercings will shrink some by doing this alone. If you've already tried this, and they have not gotten small enough, then, I would meet with a plastic surgeon who will be able to repair these with a short procedure using a local anesthetic. Last week I closed an 8 year old girl's torn earlobe piercing in the office using a local anesthetic. Depending on the maturity of your daughter, she may be able to handle this just fine using a local anesthetic. Thanks for sharing!
You can close the hole fairly easily with a small procedure. While it is pretty straight forward to do in the office, I would take her age in consideration and consider doing this with sedation. Alternatively, you can wait until she is older to repair this when you and she feels they can do it under local in an office.
This can be improved with a small local procedure that sutures this closed. You can then re-pierce the skin 6 weeks later to the size of your liking. Best, Dr. Emer.
It would be possible to make the piercings in your daughter's ears smaller, but it would require a minor surgical procedure. The piercings would need to be closed first and then they could be re-pierced at a latter date after they heal.
Thanks for your question. I would agree with the other responders that a simple in-office procedure could be done to close the current piercings, wait 6 weeks, then re-pierce in a slightly different location on the earlobe. However, I have a 7 year-old myself, and I would probably hold off on putting her through that right now. That is, unless it's really bothering her for some reason. It might be better to wait until she's a bit older and just stick w/ light weight earrings. Best regards.
Thank you for your question. If your earrings hang in a peculiar position, it could be a result of loose earlobes, an ambulated piercing, or both.
Earlobe repair is a common procedure in our plastic surgery office. I employ a technique that involves removing the excess scar tissue and reapproximating the tissue planes in multiple layers to recontour the earlobe after gauges, torn earlobes, or stretched out earlobes. Sometimes, the same...
The swelling normally would be down by now. The best thing to do is to see your surgeon and make sure there is nothing wrong.
