I have few self harm scars on my hand that are getting red. They are about 3 months old. Can I remove the scars from plastic surgery? If yes, can you suggest doctors in the Denton,Texas area? And what the total cost would be?
Answer: Scar on Body-- Fraxel, Medical Tattooing, Vascular Laser/Pulsed Dye/Yellow Laser You can try lasers but I often find that medical tattooing is the best option. Unfortunately, cost cannot be determined without an in person evaluation. Please see an expert for treatment. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Appearance of these types of scars can be reduced by doing injection therapy and resurfacing lasers. Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started. Answer: Can self harm scars be removed by plastic surgery? Thank you for your question. Unfortunately self-harm scars can only be replaced with another scar during attempts at revision and I would focus your energies on attempting to minimize their current appearance through some relatively easy to do scar care. See the attached link for more information.
