Is Sjogren's a contraindication to microneedling?

Question

Some websites list autoimmune disorders such as SLE, but I was wondering if Sjogrens would be an issue. I have had laser hair removal of my upper lip several times, and I did not have an issue with that procedure.

Microneedling is not contraindicated in people suffering from autoimmune disease. With that in mind I would have the treatment performed by an experienced physician after an in depth review of your medical history including any medications you might be taking.Thank you for your question.

Not normally but if you have dry eyes and say a preexisting ectropion, the use of microneedling to tighten your eye area can lead to more problems. Micro needling itself will not worsen Sjogrens, but any trauma can cause Koebner, eg. in discoid lupus, vitiligo etc. Best if you see a Board Certified Dermatologist. All the best, Dr Davin S. Lim
