Does laser surgery leave any mark/scar behind?

Mole removal begins with a comprehensive examination and consultation to determine the likelihood of a mole being worrisome. Excisional and incisional biopsies are reserved for suspicious moles. But it’s good news that most moles are not problematic and are only cosmetic, thus leading to the option of scarless or non-surgical mole removal with lasers and RF and plasma. Lasers are devices that produce energy resulting in a very specific beam or wavelength. There are many lasers used to try to improve skin. Examples: red vessel reduction, wrinkle reduction, pigmented dark spot improvement, hair reduction, birthmark improvement just to name a few. Lasers are designed to be used carefully by well trained professionals. When improperly used or when energy levels are excessive for a particular skin type or area, then damage, burns and scars can result. Most of the time this does not happen, most treatments are safe but it is wise to choose one’s laser professional carefully

Anytime the skin is cut it leaves a scar.  You can limit scars with lasers if done properly by an expert.  Best, Dr. Emer.

LASER is not a magic wand, its just another tool to cut or destroy tissue and anytime you traumatize tissue, you can expect some inflammation and resulting collagen stimulation which is scarring and hyper-pigmentation.
