Will I be able to grow fat where silicone is removed? Or build muscle? I was told by the people injecting me that 1000ccs were put in me total. 250ccs each upper/mid cheek and then 250ccs each lower cheek. I had two different people give me shots. Only the upper shots are causing me pain. lower Back pain, numbness in upper buttand pain in legs only when sitting, and nerve pain in left hip when laying. I want them removed without being deformed. Even if only top silicone is removed.
Answer: Fat cannot be regrown, however you can build muscle. Silicone removal should not alter appearance Silicone biopolymers are commonly used in the face and body. They may sometimes cause noticeable symptoms that we gauge using the Karamanoukian Soft Tissue Reaction Grading Scale from I to V. The severity of your complications dictates the interventions needed, ranging from itching and burning to severe necrosis of the soft tissue. Nerve pain and symptomatic swelling is also possible. Insurance may cover your surgery, but that is a discussion that requires you to contact and appeal to your insurance carrier. Options for removal are complex and depend on whether you have the material in your face or body. We reverse BBL with silicone commonly and remove silicone from the lips very commonly. Diffuse silicone in the face is not likely to respond to removal. Filler migration, swelling, and granulomas can cause significant discomfort and cosmetic ramifications. Our office specializes in the use of enzymes and filler reversal techniques without hyaluronidase to help improve the results of botched cosmetic fillers, whether caused by Juvederm, Restylane, or foreign fillers. We can also test for the material to determine the likelihood of silicone granulomas and silicone reaction. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Regrowth of Fat and Muscle Post-Silicone Removal: Navigating Your Recovery Dear crownedlevi, It's understandable that you have concerns about how your body will change after silicone removal. Firstly, it's crucial to remember that any procedure involving foreign substances, especially when administered by non-medical professionals, can have unpredictable and potentially harmful results. Post-silicone removal, it is indeed possible for you to build muscle and regrow fat in those areas. The human body is capable of incredible regeneration and adaptation. With a proper exercise regimen and diet, muscle development and fat accumulation can occur naturally over time. It's important to consult with a professional trainer or physiologist for a tailored exercise and diet plan that could help you achieve your goals in a safe manner. However, the removal process itself can be complex, depending on how the silicone was injected and how your body has reacted to it. In some cases, scar tissue can form, which could potentially affect the way fat is distributed and muscles develop in the area. In terms of your current pain and numbness, these symptoms strongly suggest that you should consult with a board certified plastic surgeon with experience removing silicone injections immediately. Removing the silicone injections should be your priority, not the aesthetics of it all. I wish you the best of luck. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Reconstruction is possible Hi Crownedlevi,I'm sorry to hear of your symptoms. These are things I hear every day from my patients, so I can understand what you're going through. If you were consulting in my office, I'd start by ordering an MRI to help determine exactly where this foreign body material lies within your anatomy- not just the upper vs. lower, but how deep within the body's structures (skin, fascia, muscle). Then we craft a surgical plan together. To answer your question, yes- you can be reconstructed after silicone removal! My approach is to reconstruct the buttocks with fat grafting after an open removal. You will have remaining fat cells in the treated areas that the new fat can attach itself to. I wish you the best of luck in your search for treatment!-Dr. Nik
