I am 2 days post op. My breasts do not look at all the size I wanted; they look too small. Should I be concerned?

You would have had discussions with your surgeon prior to surgery so I am sure these wishes were carried out. Please let things settle for at least a few months; in the meantime please do discuss your feelings with your surgeon.Good luck with your recovery

It's much too early to worry about size or shape 2 days post-op.  Your breasts will change over the next few months.  Yes, as the swelling goes down, your breasts may be somewhat smaller but keep in mind that you are swollen all around your breasts so that's why it may seem that your breasts aren't projecting as much when you look down.  Try to be patient and give it 3-6 months for everything to settle and re-evaluate then.  If you are still unhappy with the size, that would be a good time to discuss your options with your surgeon.

If you think you are small right after surgery, then you will likely get a bit smaller after the swelling subsides.

Breast size does not increase after implant placement when the swelling subsides. If anything they may be slightly smaller. This is an issue to discuss with your surgeon when you are about 6 weeks after surgery. The breasts will be more settled then and you will have lived with them for awhile to get a better perspective on your new look.

Two days after breast augmentation is typically too early to judge results. Wait at least 1 to 2 months to allow everything to settle, then discuss with your surgeon. 

  The concerns you express are not infrequently encountered by patients who have undergone breast augmentation surgery.
Hopefully it will help you to know that many patients feel that they are “too large” or “too small” during the first few weeks after breast augmentation surgery. The majority of these patients go on to be very pleased with the longer-term outcome of the procedure performed.
I would suggest that you give yourself 3 to 6 months to undergo the physical and psychological body image adjustment necessary. In other words, evaluate the outcome of the procedure several months from now; most likely, you will end up pleased with the procedure performed .
In the meantime, continut to follow-up with your plastic surgeon who will be in the best position to address your questions/concerns.

Size concerns frequently exist in patients following an augmentation mammoplasty.  Most patients are happy though after some time has past and they adjust to their new shape and size.  I would be patient but express your concerns to your surgeon.Dr. Corbin

There is often quite a bit of swelling around the implants early on which can make them look ill defined and very unnatural. If one is expecting to see their final result with the first look after surgery, it is easy to be disappointed, even worried that something went wrong! The swelling over the sternum (space between the breasts) can actually make the breasts appear less projecting than they will be ("smaller"?) immediately after surgery and as that swelling goes down, the projection of the breasts can appear to improve substantially in many individuals. More projection (deeper cleavage) can make the breast appear larger and if that is what you are looking at to judge size, you may be very happy by the 2nd or 3rd week. If you are judging size strictly by the upper poles, they probably will look smaller as the swelling subsides. There are many ups and downs in the first 3-5 weeks after surgery. Give it time. I'm betting that by 6 weeks you'll see things differently!
